With its historical value and its location on Národní třída, the Máj department store creates the potential to create a unique place in the centre of Prague, which will be attractive not only for tourists but also for the everyday life of Prague citizens. The building is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction, which, once completed, will turn the department store into a centre of entertainment, games and experiences. On an area of almost 17,000 m², it will combine shops, gastronomy and a unique amusement park that is unparalleled in the centre of Prague. It will continue its long tradition as a department store and create a space for leisure. Shopping centre Máj is scheduled to open to the public in the first half of 2024. The strategic location of Shopping centre Máj naturally shows high pedestrian traffic. The frequency of customers is ensured by the street Národní třída with a throughput of about 90 thousand people per day, the tram stop Národní in the street Spálená as the second most frequented public transport stop after I.P. Pavlova, connection with OC Quadrio the street Spálená and the proximity of the metro stop Národní of line B. In the immediate nearness of one of the entrances to the Máj department store there is a statue of the mechanical head of the writer Franz Kafka by the famous artist David Černý, which is the third most visited tourist attraction in Prague. A part of the Shopping centre Máj passage will also serve as a natural connection to the street Spálená the street Charvátova to the Prague City Hall.
